Safety of staff and volunteers at the 2024 Santa’s Wonderland event is of the highest priority.

Personal Safety

It is essential that every worker:

* Is properly trained to use any equipment they are asked to operate.
* Is of an adequate level of fitness to undertake all tasks associated with their duties.
* Does not turn up for work if under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.
* Does not turn up for work if unwell or excessively fatigued, in which case the organiser must be notified as soon as possible.
* Keeps hydrated by drinking plenty of water, as appropriate to the work environment.
* Watches out for colleagues.
* Reports all accidents and near misses to the organiser (a near miss is an incident that could have resulted in an injury or illness to people, danger to health, and / or damage to property or the environment).
* Reports any safety concerns to the organiser.
* Follows the emergency evacuation procedure detailed below

Emergency Evacuation

In the event that a potential emergency evacuation is required, occupants of the building are required to follow the procedure detailed below.

There are two stages of an evacuation alarm:

Stage 1: the alarm will sound a ‘beep beep’ tone. This makes occupants aware that an incident has occurred and that they are required to prepare to evacuate.

Stage 2: the alarm will sound a ‘whoop whoop’ tone. This means that all occupants must evacuate the building.

Stage 1 actions

On hearing the alarm sound ‘beep beep’:

* Listen to the instructions given by the Warden for your Area,
* Prepare to shut down activity, do not allow others to enter area,
* Remain calm and do not panic,
* Follow the Wardens instructions or Public Address announcements. Note that these will vary depending on the type of emergency (see below).

Stage 2 actions

On hearing the alarm sound ‘whoop whoop’:

* Shut down your activity and clear all people,
* Make your way to the Marshalling Point as directed by your area warden or by Public Address announcements,
* When instructed, evacuate the building via Emergency Exits to the Assembly Area, proceed in an orderly, calm manner,
* If you are mobility impaired, report to the Warden who will arrange your evacuation,
* Stay together with your warden or a staff member during the evacuation and at the assembly area,
* After hours or if alone evacuate via the nearest exit. if you require assistance contact event management centre on 0419 185 312

ASSEMBLY AREAS

* Showgrounds Main Arena lawn or Members Car Park, OR
* As directed by the Crowd Controllers and Emergency Wardens,
* Do not leave the evacuation assembly area until the all clear has been given by the emergency services.

In the event of FIRE:

* Leave bags and other items behind,
* If relevant/possible, isolate your activity,
* Leave lights on,
* Close doors,
* Follow the evacuation procedure.

In the event that a SUSPECT ARTICLE has been found:

* Gather together your personal articles, bags, phones, etc,
* If relevant/possible, isolate your activity,
* Leave lights on,
* Leave doors and windows open,
* Follow the evacuation procedure.

In the event of an EXPLOSION

* Leave bags and other items behind,
* If relevant/possible, isolate your activity,
* Leave lights on,
* Close doors,
* Follow the evacuation procedure in the opposite direction to the impacted area.

In the event of a BOMB THREAT:

* Gather together your personal articles, bags, phones, etc,
* If relevant/possible, isolate your activity,
* Leave lights on,
* Leave doors and windows open,
* Follow the evacuation procedure.
