Pre-Event Preparation

Before patrons arrive, familiarize yourself with the activity areas. Conduct an inspection of the jumping castles for the following hazards:

  • Ensure fences are correctly positioned.
  • Check that mats are in place.
  • Look for any tripping hazards on the ground.
  • Remove any lost shoes and take them to lost and found.
  • Identify and cover or isolate any sharp or protruding objects.
Managing Play Cycles

When the day begins and patrons arrive, count how many children can safely play at one time, adhering to the maximum capacities mentioned above.

Communicating Rules

Once the group of patrons is gathered, kindly explain the rules of the jumping castles. It’s best to kneel to be at eye level with the children for better engagement. You can start by saying, “Hi kiddos, we’re just going to go over the rules!”

Rules for Jumping Castles
  • Only 1 person at a time is allowed to go down the slide.
  • Ensure no one is at the bottom of the slide to prevent collisions.
  • No climbing up the slide; children must use the steps.
  • No jumping from the slide; children must sit on their bottoms and slide down.
  • Socks are preferred to be worn.

After explaining the rules, allow a maximum of 8 children per castle and 20 for the ball crawl.

Supervision and Time Management

You must position yourself where you can see the children playing and ensure compliance with the rules. If you observe any rule-breaking, remind the children that such actions are not permitted.

Children can play for approximately 3-5 minutes before calling “TIME’S UP!” At this point, assist them in collecting their shoes and prepare for the next round of patrons.

Safety and Reporting
  • Be vigilant for any suspicious or predatory behavior, particularly concerning minors.
  • In case of a power outage causing deflation of the castle, execute emergency evacuation plans promptly and inform a member of the management team to restore power.
  • Report all incidents and accidents to event control and escalate any medical incidents immediately to first aid.
  • Always report suspicious, aggressive, or threatening behavior.
  • Familiarize yourself with the location and status of fire extinguishers and safety equipment.
