At Santa’s Wonderland, we provide activities for children aged 2 to 12:

  • Christmas Jumping Castles: 2 units
  • Ice Wonderland Ball Crawl: 1 unit

Capacity Limits

  • Christmas Castles: Maximum 8 children per play cycle. Separate children into age groups 2–6 and 7–12.
  • Ball Crawl: Maximum 15 children per play cycle. Separate children into age groups 2–6 and 7–12.

No adults are permitted on these attractions.

Pre-Event Preparation

Before patrons arrive, familiarise yourself with the activity areas and inspect the castles and ball crawl for hazards:

  • Check that fences are correctly positioned and mats are in place.
  • Look for tripping hazards on the ground.
  • Remove any lost shoes and place them in lost and found.
  • Identify and cover or isolate any sharp or protruding objects.
  • Put plastic slide sheets back into place.

Managing Play Cycles

Count children as they arrive to ensure each attraction stays within its capacity limit. Ask children to remove their shoes and leave them with their parents.

Explaining the Rules

When a group has gathered, explain the rules for the jumping castles and ball crawl. Kneel to speak at the children’s eye level where possible. You could begin: “Hi kiddos, we’re just going to go over the rules!”

Rules for the Jumping Castles and Ball Crawl

1. Only one person may go down the slide at a time.
2. Check that the bottom of the slide is clear before sliding.
3. Do not climb up the slide; use the steps.
4. Sit on your bottom when sliding down.
5. Jumping from the slide is not permitted.
6. Socks are preferred for safety.

Allow no more than 8 children per castle and 15 in the ball crawl, keeping the age groups separate.

Supervision and Time Management

Position yourself where you can clearly see all children and monitor their play. If a child breaks a rule, remind them calmly to follow it.

Children can play for approximately 3–5 minutes. Call out, “TIME’S UP!” and help children leave the attraction and reunite with their parents before preparing for the next group.

Emergency Evacuation Procedures

If the power goes out, the jumping castles will begin to deflate:

1. Immediately get all children off the castles and move them to the front of the castle until power is restored.
2. At the ball crawl, push the front walls up to prevent balls from spilling into walkways.
3. Reunite children with their parents, then call a manager to restore power.

Before starting the next play cycle, conduct a pre-operation check. Make sure all plastic matting is in place and the castle is ready for use.

Safety and Reporting

Stay alert for suspicious or predatory behaviour involving minors. Report all incidents and accidents to event control, and escalate medical incidents to first aid immediately. Report suspicious, aggressive or threatening behaviour.

Know the locations of fire extinguishers and other safety equipment.
